Who are we….

SS20 was opened in December 1988 on the Cowley Road in Oxford by Mon Barbour and Dave Furneau. Our aim was, and always will be, to provide the best possible equipment and advice in order to support the UK's skate and snowboard scenes.

We have been the original skate sponsors for Tom Penny (now the legendary Flip pro), Danny Wainwright (partner in 50:50 skateshop and Guinness World record holder for the highest Ollie), Alex Moul (the youngest ever UK pro at 15, and UK skate legend) and Tom Watts (now pro on Unabomber).Within the snowboard scene SS20 has supported countless instructors, seasonaires and competitors from the likes of Pat Meurier (now boss for K2 sales in the UK), Budd Gallimore (repeated top 5 Brits competitor) and now the up and coming Knox clan (see footage).

Dave Furneau was involved in running the original British Snowboard association, and was also one of the first snowboard instructors, first British Snowboard Champion in the UK and taught many of the high profile snowboarders seen in the magazines over the years. In his Youth (and to this day) Dave is a keen downhill and slalom skater.

Mon Barbour (founder of SS20) is also a keen snowboarder and skater. He set up the Oxford Wheels Project Charity, Built Botley Bowl and helped with the legendary Cowley Road ramps. Back in the mid 80’s Mons’ Ramp (located at his parents farm near Banbury) was the scene for some of the best known B.M.X and Skateboard jams of that decade. In addition he organised the first British Skateboard Championships at Radlands in 1995.

SS20 has gone from strength to strength, providing customers with top quality service, sound advice and one of the fastest internet/mail order services in the UK. Our reputation within the skateboard and snowboard industry is second to none and that’s the way we’d like to keep it. All transaction information passed between our website and Sage Pay’s systems is encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates. No cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted and any messages sent to our servers from Sage Pay are signed using MD5 hashing to prevent tampering. You can be completely assured that nothing you pass to Sage Pay’s servers can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information.

The SSL Secure Server is extremely safe to use. Many times this is even safer than using your card at a store. When you walk into a store and use your credit card, any number of people at the store have access to your card number simply by looking at your sales receipt. With online ordering, since all of this information is encrypted not even the staff can see your card information.

We now also accept Paypal as a method of payment making paying for your goods even easier.
